What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

The Bible

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the Word of God given by Divine inspiration, inerrant in the original manuscript, and is the unchanging authority in matters of Christian faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 // 2 Peter 1:19-21 // Jeremiah 30:1-2 // Psalm 119:9 //Deuteronomy 6:6-9

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three relational persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  He is a personal God who desires to fellowship with us.

John 1:1-4 // Romans 1:19-20 // Mark 12:28-29 // Psalm 121:1-2

God – The Father

We believe in God the Father, who is a personal God.  God made all things, preserves all things and rules all things.  God is perfectly holy, full of all wisdom, all power and all love.  God cares for us and is involved in our lives.  That is a sign of his mercy.  God deserves all love, praise and honor.  Ultimately, God saves man from sin and death through Jesus.

John 10:30, 38; John 14:9; Colossians 1:19, 2:9 // Luke 1:35; Ephesians 1:3 //Ephesians 1:5; Romans 8:23

God – The Son Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He lived a perfect life, one without sin.  He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures.  Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Father, He now is our High Priest and advocate.  Salvation can only come through faith in Him!

John 1:1 // Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 2:1-20 // Hebrews 4:14-15 // Matthew 27:32-66; Mark 15:21-47; Luke 23:26-56; John 19:17-42 Matthew 28:1-10; Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-8; John 20:1-9 // Mark 16:19; Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:1-2

God – The Holy Spirit

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly service.

John 16:7-8 // John 14:26 // Acts 1:8

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Because of this fall into sin, man is now inherently sinful.  His life tends toward sin at all times if unchecked by the Holy Spirit.  He is unable to save himself and needs a savior by the name of Jesus.  Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit through a relationship with Jesus can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

Genesis 1:26-27 // Romans 3:23, 5:12 // 1 Corinthians 15:22, 45 // Titus 3:5

Sin

We believe sin to be any transgression from God’s desires, declarations, and character.  Sin can also be failure to act where and when God directs.  It is anything that is against God, including an expression of individualistic selfishness.

1 John 3:4 // James 4:17

Sin

We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only grounds for salvation for all who believe. Every person needs to be justified, or made right, with God.  Man on his own is unworthy of a relationship with God.
John 1:12, 14:6 // Acts 4:8-12 // Romans 3:23 // Romans 10:9-10

The Church

We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head.  The Church is God’s primary means of accomplishing His purposes today.

We believe that only those who are members of the global Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.

Ephesians 1:22-23 // 1 Corinthians 12:27

The Ordinances

We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age.  They are not, however, to be regarded as means of salvation.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead:  of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

John 14:1-41 // 1 Thes. 4:13-18
